There was a recent edit by a guest account claiming ''"Sam was hit by a blast of blue energy, which could not have been fired from a Type-25 Plasma Pistol. It had to have been a Type-25 Plasma Rifle."''. As mentioned by [[User talk:WarGrowlmon18|WarGrowlmon18]] when reverting the edit it may just be a simple error, and what struck Sam is still intended to be a plasma pistol bolt. I would like to further back this up based on the production ''Halo: Combat Evolved''. The plasma pistol can be seen firing blue plasma bolts in some prelease footage, namely here (https://youtu.be/xqPtDSmSBGY?si=NGR_pnO5vniCbjs0&t=379). Even in the final game the weapon texture possesses blue colors for the plasma "emitters" while in ''Halo 2'' and other later entries these are changed to green. What likely happened is that ''The Fall of Reach'' novel incorporated details as they existed during the time that both the novel and the game were in development, and that blue plasma pistol bolts happen to be one of the details that changed before the game released but after the novel had finished being written. Speculation[edit]
