Deleted speculation that he was still alive. It's confirmed by Halsey in H:FS that he's dead, and there's no way he could've been saved. added some clarification for my previous edit, if the playground isn't used, then might I recommed using "their first exercise." Also, John, Sam, and Kelly weren't assigned together, they were told to fall-in formation and whomever was standing next to them were their partners for the exercise, they were only assigned the next day on a return trip to the playground.--Griffin2002 19:53, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Griffin2002

It says in the trivia that its speculated to be him but that just makes no sense he died in 2525 but the battle of Reach occurred in 2552, 27 years after his death. Should the trivia about that just be removed or is their any evidence backing up how he'd be at Reach during the covenant attack 27 years after he died.Xxxjeffxxx 12:22, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

I think it should be removed the person who posted it also the one we have to blame for the idiotic sounding Shield world section on the legendary planet article, just go and read that and you'll see what I'm talking about.Xxxjeffxxx 12:31, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
Plasma Pistol firing blue bolts
There was a recent edit by a guest account claiming "Sam was hit by a blast of blue energy, which could not have been fired from a Type-25 Plasma Pistol. It had to have been a Type-25 Plasma Rifle.". As mentioned by WarGrowlmon18 when reverting the edit it may just be a simple error, and what struck Sam is still intended to be a plasma pistol bolt. I would like to further back this up based on the production Halo: Combat Evolved. The plasma pistol can be seen firing blue plasma bolts in some prelease footage, namely here (https://youtu.be/xqPtDSmSBGY?si=NGR_pnO5vniCbjs0&t=379). Even in the final game the weapon texture possesses blue colors for the plasma "emitters" while in Halo 2 and other later entries these are changed to green. What likely happened is that The Fall of Reach novel incorporated details as they existed during the time that both the novel and the game were in development, and that blue plasma pistol bolts happen to be one of the details that changed before the game released but after the novel had finished being written. This is a speculative claim but probable nonetheless. - XScruffyDaSasquatchx

Sam on Reach cover[edit]

It says in the trivia that its speculated to be him but that just makes no sense he died in 2525 but the battle of Reach occurred in 2552, 27 years after his death. Should the trivia about that just be removed or is their any evidence backing up how he'd be at Reach during the covenant attack 27 years after he died.Xxxjeffxxx 12:22, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

I'm making a habit of replying to old-ish threads. Anyway, The Fall of Reach covers much, much more than just its namesake. It covers the training of the Spartans, their first few missions together, and, really, most of their lives. So, yeah, it is Sam on the cover. Cheers,Infernal-Blaze 10:15, 4 November 2011 (EDT)
