Pious Inquisitor

The Pious Inquisitor(aka Begotten Angel) is a CAR-class heavy cruiser in the Covenant fleet, reputed to be "one of the fastest ships" in the Covenant fleet.

History

The Pious Inquisitor was one of the ships that attacked Earth in October of 2552 along with the rest of the Prophet of Regret's fleet during the First Battle of Earth. Its fate at that battle is unknown.

Classification Conjecturalization

Because it appears to be orbiting Earth, the Pious Inquisitor has erroneously been assumed to be a CCS-class battlecruiser, though others also have incorrectly theorized that it was the Prophet of Regret's flagship. Even others claim that since the Pious Inquisitor has been labeled as "one of the fastest ships" in the Covenant armada, and it may be a Covenant frigate or a Covenant destroyer. The first two hypotheses have been disclaimed because a battlecruiser is typically a warship of medium-heavy tonnage with long cruising range, but with a lower speed than a destroyer or frigate. Since a Covenant assault carrier has a longer keel length than a CCS-class battlecruiser, this has also be rebutted. The third claim can be discounted because the Covenant fleet attacking Earth in the First Battle of Earth consisted of all heavy warships - Assault Carriers and CAR-class heavy cruisers. Since the Assault Carrier is over three times the keel length of the CAR classification and is most likely more slothsome, it is probable that the Pious Inquisitor is a CAR-class heavy cruiser.

Behind the Scenes

The Halo 2 Multiplayer level Midship takes place in the Engine Room of the Pious Inquisitor. The map has three levels and a floating platform at the top. It has been given the following recommendations by Bungie:

•The recommended number of players is 4-6.

•The recommended game variants are Slayer, Capture The Flag, Territories and Juggernaut.

•The most valuable weapon on the map is the energy sword, which is at the top of the map, due to the size of the map.
