Talk:Glyyss

Are we sure we correctly identified Glyyss'es appearence from the key art for Battle for the Blood-Moon? It does makes sense for Glyyss to be the central figure on both it and key art for Combined Arms. However, I've noticed a small inconsistence:

A flash of cobalt armor darted into view and Fahl found himself face to visor with a Spartan.

In the short story, it is said that Glyyss'es armor was cobalt, and there is another Spartan in the Fireteam Jorogumo, that's depicted with a blue set of armor. Should we reconsider if the Spartan on the images used on this page is actually Glyyss, or otherwise, if it is an actual inconsistency in depiction, should it be noted in the article? I initially though the same, that the Spartan with the nearly entirely blue armor is Glyyss. However, the Spartan that we show as Glyyss now does have blue components on the upper chest and arms (and given their implied position while saving Fahl's life, it would make sense for Fahl to see these portions of their armor). This is just an explanation for why that Spartan could be described as wearing blue/cobalt armor, though.
To explain how we know that this Spartan is Glyyss rather than the much more blue Spartan, we need to look at the key art for the Combined Arms event. Closely reading through Battle for the Blood-Moon will show that the art matches the scene where they're scoping out the mines exactly:
  • It is stated that only 4 people are there on this recon: Fahl, Dahks, Glyyss, and Trell.
  • Dahks and Glyyss are talking and implied to be next to each other during this event.
  • Fahl is described as sitting on a rock with his helmet off.
  • In the story, Fahl and Trell are next to each other while scoping out the Banished-occupied mines. And we know for certain that that Spartan is Trell because in the key art for the story they're holding the sniper rifle (and Trell was the only Spartan sniper on the mission).
On top of this, Glyyss has a wrist-mounted drone in the story. The in-game description of that wrist attachment doesn't call it a drone, but it's been confirmed to us that its description is erroneous. Either way, it certainly looks like a drone and the fully blue Spartan is not depicted wearing any wrist attachment. - TheArb1ter117 (talk) 09:48, January 22, 2024 (EST)
Oh, you're right, I totally missed out on the fact that it is actually blue coloration of the armor itself and not a reflection of purpleish-blue light on a dark-gray surface, but it does make sense. It's more apparent on the group picture than on the event art too. Thanks! And a keen eye too! - PatrickRus (talk) 09:57, January 22, 2024 (EST)
