The system of localized clan workshops had permeated through Jiralhanae society during the wars fought on their homeworld [[Doisac]] prior to their incorporation into the [[Covenant]] in [[2492]]. Under the Covenant's reign, clan workshops were run under the careful watch of Covenant missionaries, though toward the end of the [[Human-Covenant War]] many workshop designs were taken by the [[Prophet of Truth]] and put into mass manufacture by the [[Sacred Promissory]], modified with new Covenant technologies such as [[plasma weaponry]] and [[anti-gravity technology]].{{Ref/Book|Id=Enc22295|Enc22|Page=295}} Many of the Jiralhanae clans and workshops were based on Doisac, and were presumably destroyed along [[Razing of Oth Sonin|with the planet]] in [[2559]].

===Foundries, forges and other manufacturers===
While designs originate in the clan workshops, a single clan does not have the resources to construct them on a massive scale. This is instead the job of larger manufacturing centres, which take the clan workshop designs and proliferate them on an industrial scale.{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22p475}} Some clans may operate their own manufacturing centres - for example the designs of the [[Dovotaa Workshop]] also being constructed in the [[Crucibles of Dovotaa]], or the [[Eklon'dal Workshop]] operating the [[Eklon War-Forges]].
