Well, if the UNSC functions like today's Air Force, they might use something like this:Urine Collection Device. That would be my guess, or they might have a more advanced version given they are 500 years advanced. Plus, if they land on a planet with suitable atmosphere, they could just step outside. Why do they always crash
Why can't the UNSC actually make a lifepod that will land without killing half/all of the people inside?
