The Skirr-class battlecruiser is a class of prime dragoon used by the Forerunner fleet. Manufactured by the Summus Assembler Vats, the Skirr class was commissioned millennia before the Forerunner-Flood war.[1]

OverviewEdit

Crew and complementEdit

The Skirr-class battlecruisers were capable of operating without a living crew, using an ancilla to instead navigate the ships through dangerous casualty-violating slipspace maneuvers.[1]

Operational historyEdit

Skirr-class battlecruisers were first-order dragoons that served in both pioneer and pacification fleets prior to the Forerunner-Flood war, having been commissioned millennia before.[1]

During the Forerunner-Flood war, the ancillas tasked with controlling the vessels proved to be remarkably resistant to the logic plague. However, they were ill-prepared to counter the use of infected Forerunners as shields and traps by the Gravemind. Many battlecruisers were captured by the Flood with their ancillas twisted into rampancy.[1]

Production notesEdit

The design of the Skirr-class used in the Halo Encyclopedia (2022 edition) is unused concept development artwork produced by Chuck Wojtkiewicz for Blur Studio during the production of Halo Wars. The design was produced as part of concept explorations for the Sojourner-class dreadnought.[2]
