Template:Rank Infobox Sergeant is the fifth enlisted rank (E-5) of the UNSC Marine Corps and the UNSC Army, and is a non-commissioned officer. It is equal to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class in the UNSC Navy and Staff Sergeant in the Air Force. Sergeants in the Army lead may lead teams of around 4 soldiers, while Marine Sgts. typically lead squads of about 12 Marines. Most Sergeants are found wearing the UNSC Military Cap rather than the CH252 Helmet.

While Sergeant is a rank of its own, the title "Sergeant" is often used to refer to any of the enlisted ranks of the UNSC Marine Corps or Army which carry the title Sergeant:

  1. Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps
  2. Sergeant Major
  3. Master Gunnery Sergeant
  4. First Sergeant
  5. Master Sergeant
  6. Gunnery Sergeant
  7. Staff Sergeant
  8. Sergeant
  • UNSC Army
  1. Sergeant Major of the Army
  2. Command Sergeant Major
  3. Sergeant Major
  4. First Sergeant
  5. Master Sergeant
  6. Sergeant First Class
  7. Staff Sergeant
  8. Sergeant

Trivia

Many Sergeants in the games are shown wearing caps instead of the CH252 helmet their subordinates wear. While wearing this cap is useful for identification, it should cost the Sergeants the loss of their Heads-up display, making aiming and long distance communication more difficult. How Sergeants who wear a cap get around this setback is never explained.
