The Mammoth is a six-wheeled vehicle and presumably fills a similar role to the smaller [[M313 Heavy Recovery Vehicle|M313 Elephant]] as a dual-role command and support/heavy recovery vehicle. As with the Elephant, the Mammoth also possess an internal storage bay for much smaller vehicles such as the [[M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle|Warthog]] and the [[M274 Ultra-Light All-Terrain Vehicle|Mongoose]], which can exit through the vehicle's front ramp.
