Gespu-pattern fuel rod gun

Revision as of 01:43, September 1, 2018 by Fred-104 (talk | contribs)
This article is about the model introduced in Halo 5: Guardians. For the model introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved, see Type-33 fuel rod gun.

Template:Weapon Infobox The Type-58 Light Anti-Armor Weapon (T-58 LAAW), also known as the fuel rod cannon, is a shoulder-fired mortar used by Covenant remnants.[1]

Design details

Created by multi-species workshops on Venezia, the T-58 fuel rod cannon is cheaper, more accurate, and more reliable than the older Type-33 fuel rod gun. The T-58 launcher uses a compact and refined class of fuel rod ammunition that is far safer to manufacture, store, and field.[2][1]

Variants

  • Light of Urs: During the Blooding Years, many advances were made in fuel rod technology; the Light of Urs is one of those advances. It features a higher rate of fire and faster-moving fuel rods at the expense of slightly reduced damage, contrary to its in-game description mentioning higher damage.[3] It can also lock onto ground and air vehicles.[2] This particular weapon also appears as one of three secret weapons in the mission Genesis.[4]
  • Pool of Radiance: Both the Swords of Sanghelios and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant use once-forbidden, unstable weapons. The Pool of Radiance is one of those weapons. It is an advanced fuel rod cannon with a slower rate of fire but its projectiles are deadlier as they leave dangerous residue upon impact and feature a proximity airbust fuse.[2] It can also be found in the mission Reunion.[5]

Gameplay

Changes from Type-33 fuel rod gun in Halo 2: Anniversary

  • Extensive structural changes; reload now involves a speed-loader style cylinder of ammunition rather than a vertically loaded rack.
  • Structure is much more sleek in design.
  • The ammo is now loaded from the back rather than from the top. The ammo mag is also changed from a single line to a circular line.
  • Weapon now can be charged, similar to a Mgalekgolo's assault weapon.
  • Projectile now has longer range before being affected by gravity.
  • Weapon trajectory travels slightly faster than its predecessor.
