Min, along with other orphans volunteered to become a [[SPARTAN-III Program|Spartan]] to avenge his family, his home planet, or seek the glory he saw in the military.

They were sent on Operation: TORPEDO at the age of 12 to destroy a Covenant refinery on [[Pegasi Delta]]. As the Spartans faced superior enemy forces, they were almost all killed, but Fireteam Foxtrot managed to reach the inside of the refinery.
