As the [[Battle of Circinius IV]] started, Hastati Squad retreated to the dormitory and hid in Lasky's room. They heard screaming outside and saw a [[Sangheili Zealot]] killing a cadet; the Zealot then activated his [[active camouflage]]. Chen took point and led the squad down the corridor, though he was soon impaled on the Elite's [[Type-1 Energy Weapon/Sword|energy sword]]. The rest of the squad then ran for the armory, shutting the door behind them. While Lasky sent a distress signal, the rest of the squad attempted to open the weapons locker. When they realized that the locker could not be opened via the console, Vickers tried to bash it open with a fire extinguisher. The squad hid when the Sangheili started to break down the door; Vickers was separated and hid on the other side of the room. As the Zealot neared the rest of the squad's position, Vickers, in order to give the squad a chance to escape, revealed his location to the Sangheili.
