Jiralhanae Jumper: Difference between revisions

Jiralhanae Jumpers served as part of the [[Covenant|Covenant's]] vast [[Covenant military|military]] during its [[Human-Covenant War|genocidal campaign]] against the [[Human|human]] race. Following their arrival at the [[Etran Harborage]] on February 21, [[2531#February|2531]], the [[Fleet of Glorious Interdiction]] deployed ground forces onto the surface of the [[Shield world|shield world]]. A number of Jiralhanae Jumpers, along with several [[Type-25 Chopper|Choppers]] and other infantry, set up a defensive position near the location where the [[UNSC Spirit of Fire|UNSC ''Spirit of Fire'']] was deploying several [[M312 Elephant|Elephant]] reconnaissance teams. One of these teams, lead by Sergeant [[John Forge]], soon engaged the Covenant position. Soon after, [[SPARTAN-II program|Spartan]] [[Red Team]] dropped in behind the Covenant forces. During the [[Battle of Mombasa|Battle of]] [[Mombasa]] on [[2552#October|October 20, 2552]], following the departure of the [[Prophet of Regret]] from the city, [[Jiralhanae]]-led Covenant reinforcements sent by the [[Prophet of Truth]] arrived to assume control of the battle. A group of Jiralhanae Jumpers was deployed onto the roof of [[ONI Alpha Site]] as part of the Covenant attack on the facility. However, a group of [[New Mombasa Police Department|NMPD]] officers--along with the [[Orbital Drop Shock Trooper|ODSTs]] [[Taylor Miles]] and [[Michael Crespo]]--arrived on the rooftop via elevator after setting [[M168 Demolition Charge|explosive charges]] throughout the base to deny the Covenant access to information pertaining to the [[Portal at Voi|Portal]] buried beneath the city. Following the conclusion of the Human-Covenant War, many Jiralhanae Jumpers joined a large [[Merg Vol's Covenant|splinter faction]] of the former Covenant lead by [[Sangheili]] [[Sangheili Zealot|Zealot]] [[Merg Vol]]. This "new" Covenant [[Battle of Draetheus V|attacked]] the UNSC research colony world of [[Draetheus V]] and its moon [[X50]] in [[2554]], in direct violation of the [[Treaty of 2552]]. As the battle raged on, Merg Vol discovered the true purpose of X50: the moon was actually a [[Forerunner]] installation capable of building and destroying planets. The cult leader was successful in activating X50's main weapon, beginning the process of dismantling Draetheus V. Both UNSC and Covenant forces on Draetheus V were thrown into disarray. [[SPARTAN-IV program|Spartan]] [[Sarah Palmer]] made her way through a rapidly-disintegrating UNSC base, engaging numerous Jiralhanae Jumpers and other panicking Covenant as she went. Eventually making it to a [[Jetpack|jetpack]] armory, Palmer was able to destroy the doors with explosives while fending off repeated Covenant attacks, many of which contained Jumpers. After Merg Vol was killed and his Covenant defeated, the Battle of Draetheus V seemed to be over. However, the UNSC soon detected a looping transmission of low-frequency static, identified by UNSC analysts as a string of Forerunner code, emanating from X50. Spartan Palmer returned to X50 to discern the origin of this signal, only to discover that the Covenant had also returned. The Covenant believed that one of their gods was speaking to them and were intent on preventing the humans from intercepting the message.
