In early [[2531]], India Company was assigned to the {{UNSCShip|Spirit of Fire}}, a refitted [[Phoenix-class colony ship|''Phoenix''-class support vessel]] attached to the [[UNSC Navy]]'s [[Third Fleet]]. On February 4 of that year the ship arrived at [[Harvest]] in the [[Epsilon Indi]] system with intent to survey the situation on the planet and to aid the {{UNSCship|Prophecy}}, a {{Class|Marathon|heavy cruiser}} that had been crippled in battle with the [[Covenant]]'s [[Fleet of Glorious Interdiction]]. Fire Team India was among four marine units that were scrambled to board the ''Prophecy'' in the midst of an ongoing fight with a few Covenant ships. All together, fire teams India, [[Fire Team Echo|Echo]], [[Fire Team Lima|Lima]], and [[Fire Team November|November]] were able to successfully purge the navigation database of the ''Prophecy'' and rescue those survivors that remained aboard, though these all died shortly thereafter as a result of radiation poisoning contracted during time spent on the damaged ship.<ref name="Genesis">''[[Halo Wars: Genesis]]''</ref>

Later that month, on February 23, a small group of marines from the company were designated "Recon Team India" and deployed to the out surface of a mysterious world the ''Spirit of Fire'' had followed the {{Class|CPV|heavy destroyer}} ''[[Proclamation's Tithe]]'' to. India and another recon team, Recon Team Echo, were tasked with the scouting of potential sites for the establishment of [[firebase]]s. The team made the journey over the alien planet's terrain in an [[M312 Elephant]]. After halting their progress and beginning to unpack the mobile platform, the recon team came under attack from a [[Flood|parasitic lifeform]]. Following the destruction of the installation known to the [[Forerunners]] as the [[Etran Harborage]], those that remained of India Company entered [[cryostasis]] due to the sacrifice of the ''Spirit'''s [[slipspace drive]] to deny the [[shield world]]'s treasures to the Covenant. For over twenty-eight years the marines slept until on [[2559#March|March 28, 2559]], they were awakened with the rest of those aboard by a subroutine left behind by the former shipboard [[A.I.]], [[Serina]].
