A '''File''' is the smallest infantry unit within the [[Covenant]] army. The group usually consists of around four to five [[Grunts]]<ref>''[[Halo: The Flood]]'' page 61</ref> or [[Jackal]]s.<ref>''[[Halo: The Flood]]'' page 155</ref> A File is usually lead by a [[Grunt Major]], [[Elite Minor]] or [[Brute Minor]]. A File is the Covenant equivalent to a UNSC [[Fire Team]]. A [[Lance]] is the unit above a File.(Files made only of jackals or grunts can usually taken out with one grenade if they are close enough together.)
