UNSC Crassus: Difference between revisions

The ''Crassus'' was built by [[SinoViet Heavy Machinery]] for the regional defensive forces of the [[East African Protectorate]] in the early 25th century. It was formally commissioned in [[2411]], and served as a training ship and mothership for [[drone]]s throughout the remainder of the century—being retired from service in [[2490]] to serve as a floating museum ship.{{Ref/Reuse|CFStrike}}

During the [[Human-Covenant War]], the ship was reactivated to assist in the [[Battle for Earth|defence of Earth]] in [[2550]], and ultimately participated during the battle of [[New Mombasa]]. During the attack on the city, the ''Crassus'' served as a deployment and resupply platform for [[F-99 Wombat]] UCAVs and [[Pelican]] dropships making air strikes across the coastline. The ship was spotted by [[Jiralhanae]] hunting parties during the fighting, resulting in the ''Crassus'' and its escort coming under attack on [[2552#November|November 18, 2552]]. The [[Covenant]] boarding parties attacked the ship using [[Qavardu Workshop Prowler|war-sleds]] and [[Phantom]] dropships, and were able to quickly seize the ship's flight decks before proceeding to conduct close-quarters boarding attempts inside the ship's cramped interior spaces. Ultimately, the small stature of the human crew proved a boon in the battle, as the narrow bulkheads were unwieldly for the tall Jiralhanae and wide [[Unggoy]] to effectively move in. As such, the Covenant attack was quickly faltered, with the commanding Brutes electing to retreat to their dropships and destroy the ''Crassus'' air control tower.{{Ref/Reuse|CFStrike}}
