UNSC Andraste: Difference between revisions

Andraste is the name of a Celtic goddess. Unless there's a connection between the ship and Dragon Age, we cannot assume it is a reference.
(Couldn't find an online source for the K=corvette thing mentioned here, and the Art of Halo 3 never calls the Dawn a corvette - so removed that.)

The Andraste was originally concepted out during the production of Halo 3 by artist Isaac Hannaford. At the time, the design was intended to be used for the Charon featured in the final game, Forward Unto Dawn. The artwork is featured in the book The Art of Halo 3 and labelled as such on Hannaford's own blogs.

Despite the ship class ultimately being canonised as a heavy frigate with the hull classification symbol of FFG, the Andraste concept artwork uses a hull classification symbol of K. In the artwork, the ship has a full hull code of K-201 - the same numeric as Forward Unto Dawns FFG-201, making it likely Andraste was the in-development precursor to the Dawn. A similar ship, Providence, also appears in some concept art for the Battle of Installation 00.
