What I mean is that anyone is allowed to edit or remove the pic if it is deemed to not work. That's what I mean by "the community". That's what we did with Prologue, and it was deemed to not work in that manner yet.
A Youtube vid can't be watched simultaneously with the transcript. You have to close out the page, wait for it to load (wait even longer because their awful new update), and whatever shot in question would have benefited from a gif will now be drowned in the video as a whole. As for the colors, most of them are going to be kept to small sizes anyway. I don't see many gifs having to exceed 250 pixels in size on the article.
