It is most likely that it was chosen for mathematical reasons, since <math>1-1+7=7</math>, <math>1\times1\times7=7</math>, and also that <math>7^6=117649</math>. John 1 Chapter 1, Verse 7, is a passage referring God who relinquished all evil from the world so people could believe, hence '[[Believe]]' being part of the advertising campaign for [[Halo 3]]. Additionally, the song [[Remembrance]] is 1:17 in length, as well as [[Prepare To Drop (Music) | Prepare to Drop]].  It is interesting to note that in the year 117, a man named "John I" became the 7th Bishop of Jerusalem. This covers both his name, John-117, and Bungie's apparent love for the number [[seven|7]].
