'''Alpha Headquarters''' was the name of the lead [[Firebase]] set up by the [[UNSC]] [[Marines]] on planet [[Sigma Octanus IV]], [[Sigma Octanus IV Grid 19 x 37|grid 19 x 37]], during the [[Battle of Sigma Octanus IV]] in [[2552]].

It was guarded by bunkers, armed checkpoints, guardhouses, and sandbags.<ref name="Halo Fall of Reach">[[Halo: The Fall of Reach]] Pages 171-175.</ref> It contained a main barracks, a command office, and a munitions bunker. It also had a main hospital.<ref name="Halo Fall of Reach">Page 172.</ref> It was set up near [[Cote D'Azur]] so that the Marines, under the command of [[General Kits]],<ref name="Halo Fall of Reach">Page 160.</ref> could assault the city, which had been captured by the [[Covenant]].  

The base was staffed by 400 Marines when it came under assault by the Covenant forces. They attacked with [[Type-25 Assault Gun Carriage|Wraith]] tanks, [[Banshee]] fliers, and thousands of [[Grunt]]s.<ref name="Halo Fall of Reach">Pages 171-172</ref> The Marines were able to hold them off, but at a heavy cost, almost the entire base was destroyed, and only ten Marines survived the incident.<ref name="Halo Fall of Reach">Page 175.</ref> When a single [[Warthog]] with [[Corporal Harland]] arrived, he assumed tactical command of the entire ground operation. He was quickly relieved by a team of [[Spartan]]s.<ref name="Halo Fall of Reach">Page 174.</ref>

The Spartans landed their [[Pelican]] in the base and used it as a staging area. They successfully killed all the Covenant soldiers in the area with a [[HAVOK|HAVOK tactical nuclear device]],<ref>[[Halo: The Fall of Reach]] Page 211.</ref> destroying Cote D'Azur and the remainings of Alpha Headquarters consequently.

Along with the surviving Marines and civilians, they were evacuated and docked with the [[UNSC Leviathan|UNSC ''Leviathan'']] for a return trip to [[Reach]].
