Infection is a confirmed multiplayer gametype in Halo 3, discovered by beta source code hackers. It has been hypothesized that there is a Zombie (possibly Flood-infected) team fighting a Human team as in the Halo 2 game variant "Dawn of the Dead" The object for the humans is to survive the Zombie infection--a variation on the multiplayer game Zombies, but enforced by rules instead of the honor system.
Infection is a multiplayer gametype in Halo 3, discovered by beta source code hackers. The object of the game is for the "human" team to stay alive as long as possible using a starting M6G pistol and/or various weapons around the particular map; however, the goal for the "zombie" team is to kill, or "infect" the "human" team using only Energy Swords. The game is played in rounds with no apparent "teams", except for the in-game notification of which team you stand with.

The Zombie gametype pits a "zombie" or "infection" team against the "human" team. The goal of the human team is to survive to a time limit; the goal of the infection teams is to infect the humans, who respawn as members of the Zombie team.
It should be noted that during Infection, a "zombie"'s abilities to pick up additional armament has been disabled.
