Sergeant Forge and Spartan Red team were to deliver the FTL drive of the ''Spirit of Fire'' into the sun inside the shield world. However, the two Pelicans in charge of delivering the FTL drive were destroyed. UNSC ground forces then hooked up the reactor to an Elephant and charged multiple Covenant bases. After a long battle, UNSC forces successfully delivered the reactor to the shield world's sun. Inside, Forge and Spartan Red team were engaged by the Arbiter and some Honor Guard Elites while in the shield world. The Arbiter was killed by [[John Forge]] during the battle, while Spartan Red team engaged the Elites, killing them all. Forge realized that the reactor's core had overheated and that someone needed to activate it manually. Sergeant Forge opted to stay behind in order to activate the reactor.
