According to the E3 2000 demo, Segur was serving aboard {{UNSCShip|Pillar of Autumn}} in [[2552]], which crash-landed on [[Installation 04]]. There, Segur and the rest of his squad infiltrated a [[Covenant]]-held bunker. Segur and his two teammates drove a [[M12 Force Application Vehicle|Warthog]] while the remaining Marines went on foot.

As the squad pressed further into the bunker, Segur was engaged by Covenant forces and killed by several [[Type-33 Guided Munitions Launcher|needler]] rounds shot into his back as he was attempting to retreat down the hill.<ref name="trailer"/>

*This UNSC Marine was named for Matt Segur, a Bungie programmer on ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved]]''.

*The E3 2000 demo, like many other early presentations for ''Halo'', depicted in-production assets and gameplay features. Many aspects of the demo would later deem this demo as non-canon, including Segur.
