::Having a mainspace isn't JUST about being HOTM. It's that, AND the fact that you helped many users with their troubles and letting them get on with their lives. Maybe you introduced them to a wikia, and they have fun. They could have become a part of the Top 50 contributors. I'm not saying that I disagree, but it isn't about how many school friends that vote for you. Heck, only four out of fourteen people I know as friends here are school friends.
