::Update: I found several pretty darn good pictures, and they're already posted. So, no more worries. Xamikaze330 15:26, 29 August 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Halo Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide to the Halo Universe nicknames the Sentinel Beam as "Phaser"
As the above section title says, the Halo Encyclopedia (2009 edition) has nicknamed the Sentinel Beam as the "Phaser", "Laser Gun", and also "Ray Gun", among many others such names. Though I might add that calling it the "Laser Gun" seems inappropriate, as laser beams are typically red or green, like in Star Wars, and of course, Halo, and not to mention the purple-colored Pulse Laser Turrets the Covenant uses on their interstellar warships, whereas the Sentinel Beam has a reddish-orange-colored beam. And "Ray Gun" just seems pretty generic, but certainly applicable. Xamikaze330 15:29, 29 August 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330
:The laser beam itself is invisible - what we see is the air directly in its path being superheated to a plasma. The colour of that plasma would depend on several things - the lasing medium (what it's travelling through) and the frequency of the beam itself. If I recall correctly, red shifting is higher frequency while blue shifting is lower frequency - which is why the Brute Plasma Rifle is more powerful than the regular Elite version. It's not unique to lasers, either - anything that superheats the air does that. Again, if I'm wrong about the frequency thing, someone please correct me. -- <b><font color=indigo>Specops306</font></b> <u><i><font color=blue>Autocrat</font></i></u> <u><i><font color=purple>Qur'a 'Morhek</font></i></u> 00:44, 30 August 2011 (EDT)

Use of Sentinel Beam in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary?
Does anyone if the remake of Halo 1 allows for players to use the Sentinel Beam from destroyed Sentinels? I know that in the original Halo 1 it generally is impossible without modding the game, but I was wondering that since it seems that multiplayer has the Assassination sequence, that maybe 343i had changed the game code a little bit to allow the use of other weapons and things like that. Is there any data available on this? Xamikaze330 14:04, 17 September 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330
:Campaign uses HCE with a graphics mod; multiplayer uses Reach. So, no.— <span style="font-size:16px; font-family:OrbitronMedium;"><span style="color:#FF4F00;">subtank</span></span> 14:11, 17 September 2011 (EDT)
::That's a bummer. Kinda hoping we could use it in Campaign, or maybe even Multiplayer. Oh well. Xamikaze330 18:57, 17 September 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Spartan331, if you see this, where did you glean the term 'Sentinel Aggressor?'Bruce2401
:In the Essential Visual Guide. See my summary here and Forerunner's justification here. == Red sentinel beam ==
Some one can try it, like i did:
Well, this supposed sentinel beam that is red can be "obtained" by destroying the sentinels that are next to the cliff out side the control room, but it will only be red if it falls to the cliff, why? because its caused by the lighting.
If you jump off the cillf you will see that your armor adquires a redish tone.
When i pick it up (its very hard to get one of the beams to not fall, you have to stick a sentinel with a grenade to push it) it is silver on the ground already, not red.
So actually there is not red sentinel beam.

Mechanics
On the Directed energy weapon page, it states the sentinel beam is a plasma weapon. On the particle beam page, it states it's a ionized particle beam.
Which is it? If there isn't a direct statement regarding the mechanics of the weapon, all references to one or the other should be removed, and at most, any speculatory information should be limited to this page and have a reasonable basis to warrant its inclusion. http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9315/signxb.jpg 21:03, 6 November 2012 (EST)
:Addendum: I'm not in a high enough position to make calls on what speculation is or is not appropriate for the page, but IMO, something like the "Sentinal Beam Properties" section at the top of this page would be detailed enough to include, provided the information is checked to be accurate. http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9315/signxb.jpg 21:06, 6 November 2012 (EST)\
:: Additionally; I notice the infobox for the article lists it as a particle beam weapon. However, assuming that is true, how was the Focus rifle reverse engineered from this? Furthermore, I see no citation for that statement anywhere, so unless one can be provided, all references to the alleged reverse engineering should be removed or have the citation tag added. http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9315/signxb.jpg 21:15, 6 November 2012 (EST)
Sentinel Beam in Halo 4
Although Aggressor Sentinels are encountered on the level Requiem and on Reclaimer, I'm going to assume that when they are destroyed (only by Covenant remnant forces), they do not leave behind any Sentinel Beam weapons lying around. If this assumption is wrong, please let me know, or else don't; I'll find out either way. --Xamikaze330 (talk|contribs) 21:13, 11 November 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330
