After the [[Human-Covenant War]], Holst was recruited as one of the first members of the SPARTAN-IV Program. During a training exercise he and Spartan [[Joel Thomas]] were disabled by stun rounds. When [[Ilsa Zane]] decompressed S-deck, Palmer ordered Holst to locate the emergency air masks for Jun and [[Thomas Lasky]]. Holst immediately found it, bashing the container open with his assault rifle. Spartans Palmer and Davis then attempted to retake Infinity's bridge from space as Holst and the others repelled the Insurrectionists on S-deck. When the Insurrectionist group opened fire, Holst shielded Lasky. Lasky then left Holst to quickly seal the rebels apart.
