Now... the previous theory proves that Forerunner slipspace technology is instantaneous.
Bungie's recently released timeline of events is inaccurate. It says that it took the Forerunner Dreadnought five days to get from Installation 05 to  the Sol system. However, the [[UNSC Dusk]] followed the Dreadnaughts slipspace wake to Earth, and then to Onyx on the same day.  
 
This would mean that the [[Portal]] too is instantaneous.
 
This means that the levels The Ark is set on November 4th... with The Covenant set on the 4th or 5th... but with Halo definitely on the 5th.
 
This means that the reason why "Eulogy" takes place in March... wouldbe due to...
#the 2 million or so remaining Marines finish off the Loyalists that remained at Earth
#The Sangheili destroy any more loyalist ships in the system.
#if any of the hypothetical loyalist ships are there, they'd bring troops to the ground taking more time.
#An official Peace Treaty with the UNSC and Covenant (Separatists) would be signed on that last day...where the war would officialy end.
