I will say two things - compared to actual socialist nations, or even centre-left nations like [[Wikipedia:New Zealand|my own]], the US seems unimaginably far-right, so please don't think this has anything to do with ''actual'' politics. This is your politicians caving to lobby groups who represent corporations who want to make as much profit as they can. As politicians always do, left or right.
