They are about the size of a baseball for stealth capabilities.  BLACK WIDOWs could be deployed anywhere and would act as carriers for messages, effectively making them mobile [[COMSat]]s. They are able to send video feeds back to the ship that had launched them. They are also used to deliver files, such as Artificial Intelligences, etc. There are only 3 BLACK WIDOW communication satellite launchers known, one of which was destroyed on Reach.<ref>[[Halo: Ghosts of Onyx]], page 300.</ref>
