During the summer of 2004, the website ilovebees.com was used as a publicity site for Halo 2, with the site being pointed to by adverts for the game during movie trailers. Ostensibly a beekeeper's personal site, the server appeared to have been taken over by an unstable A.I. whose thoughts are scattered on the site.

Halo 2 was released November 9, 2004. The game was one of the most highly anticipated games on the Xbox and went on to sell more than the original. On the morning of October 14, a leak of the French version of the game was posted on the Internet, and circulated widely. Microsoft, the parent company of Bungie, tried to contain the spread, and pledged to bring legal action against anyone who spread the leaked version. Thanks to the hype, Halo 2 sold one of the most copies of any games of all time.

Closing Ceremonies
On April 15, 2010, the Halo 2 Multiplayer Servers were closed down by Microsoft. The reason for this shutdown originates from the fact that Halo 2 was so hardwired into the Xbox LIVE service when it was released that it impedes the addition of new features being added on the Xbox 360 Console. To end the Game's nearly six year run, Bungie encouraged all their fans to play for one last evening on Wednesday, April 14 in the hours leading up to the game's final moments. 'The Did You Know...'  section, which was originally used for tips on how to take advantage of the game's features warnings to modders and those trying to cheat the system. It was changed instead to display warm and humorous messages referencing many events of the game's run including the infamous BXB and other glitches or map oddities. The full list can be viewed below. Also, players who played online on April 14 will receive an exclusive Armor piece for the Halo Reach Beta.
*Thanks for playing. Seriously? More than five years after launch? You're awesome.
*SMG Starts! Okay, we admit it. It was a bad idea.
*BXR. Yeah, it's cheating.
*Finish the Fight! The exciting conclusion to the Halo 2 cliff-hanger wraps up in Halo 3 for the Xbox 360!
*If you've yet to experience Phantom Pistols on waterworks, there's still time!
*Grenade Party! Can't four-shot? Chuck some grenades.
*Trouble Spot? Having problems playing on Xbox LIVE? If it's after April 15th, we've got a good idea why!
*Squat and Hobble! Although crouch-walking is slow, it makes you invisible to enemy motion detectors. It's also a sweet way to force a fallen opponent to suck your crotch!
*Admit it, the first time you boarded a vehicle was pretty awesome.
*I am your Father! Voice-masking adds at least ten years to your online persona!
*Last Chance! If you want to have access to all the free Halo 2 DLC, go grab it now. It all goes offline on the 15th of April!
*Title Update 4 adds Theater support, screenshots, and Forge to Halo 2! Coming: NEVER.
*Superbouncin'! Even from waaaaaay down here, you still look like a douche!
*This will be the last time you'll ever get to experience Backwash online. Bummer, eh?
*Needz Moar Laser! Know what would make this game even more awesome? The Laser.
*U R GARBAGE! Remember that you can send hateful messages to players from the Post Game Carnage report. "Oh, there you are!"
*Woosh! You know what would make this game more awesome? Jetpacks!
*Honky Tonk! Honk your horn while driving the Warthog to alert your team mates that a ride is available! Or, you know, just to be irritating.
