Dural 'Mdama is the eldest son of [[Raia 'Mdama|Raia]] and [[Jul 'Mdama]]. He is aware who his father is, even though Sangheili custom dictates the youth are solely judged on their own abilities and not by their heritage. He and his brother [[Asum]] lived in the [[State of Mdama]] and were taught [[martial arts|combat skills]] by [[Naxan]] in their home at [[Bekan Keep]]. For himself, and at the urging of Telcam, Dural had painted his armor in a pale blue and white, similar to the color of a energy sword. His combat harness was a fierce and ancient variant from an anchorite-warrior sect that he recovered from the vaults of the Ontom temple.
