Talk:Centennial Orbital Elevator

Now wait a minute here, something I don't get. If Mombasa is Earth's first tether city, why is Havana's space elevator considered antiquated and Mombasa's isn't? Unless Mombasa's was replaced sometime in its existence, this makes no sense.262VigilantGuardian (talk) 21:05, 6 May 2016 (EDT)

Ghosts of Onyx says: "It was two hundred years old, antiquated but one of the few surviving OEs capable of heavy lifting on Earth." (Chapter 23, page 205) "One of the few surviving OEs" suggests that some were decommissioned, and only a handful remain, including Quito's and Mombasa's probably. Why would you think the Mombassa tether isn't considered antiquated as well? -Japeth555

No other source I am aware of describes Mombasa's as such.262VigilantGuardian (talk) 22:43, 6 May 2016 (EDT)
