Considering the utter lack of information about the UNSC Army, i am very impressed with this article! That battle on Mars, you know, the one Col. Ackerson got captured in? Ackerson is an Army officer, so I think we can assume the UNSC Army was in this battle. Even though it's not confirmed, it's so heavily implied that it should at least be in this article under a conjecture label. What say you?

Not true at all... the U.S. Army, and the British Army, both are a fighting force that actually takes more ground than the Marines in offensive operations. (see Iraq war 2003) Also the WW2 European theater was exclusively fought by the Army. Infact the ODST's resemble Army Rangers, and Army Airborne "troopers" more so than any Marine force. I think it's inconsistency's, and a general lack of military knowledge of Halo authors, and Bungie staff that are responsible for the general lunacy of UNSC military structure. == The real reason a UNSC Army is left out of Halo. ==

The folks that are in control of making Halo cannon are ill informed when it comes to military matters, history, tactics, and weaponry. Because most likely their personal lives have never had to deal with actual military matters, and I would be willing to put money on the fact, that not a single one of them has ever served their country in uniform. Thus you end up with another Marine Corps oriented video game, because that's all they see in the movies. I bet some of them are not even aware of the fact that the Army, and the Marine Corps are two totally separate branches of service.

I want an explanation on why they did not use the Army in Halo... because the Army doesn't sound as cool, or, "well it's a space oriented futuristic war game, and it's highly probable that such a force would undoubtedly use Marine forces." (I used a voice similar to a squeaky nerd when reading that last part over again.)

:You would have to ask Bungie personally. It is already known to some of us here that they don't have a detailed knowledge of military matters in any way, shape or form (otherwise, there wouldn't be so many errors!) <b><span style="color:#770000; font-weight:bold; font-family:Tahoma Small Cap">Smoke</span><span style="color:#770000; font-weight:bold; font-family:Tahoma Small Cap">Sound off!</span></b> 16:32, December 19, 2009 (UTC)

:That would make sense since only one Bungie person was in any form of the military (I think he was in the military police) and that would explain why there are so many mistakes. --Sgt.T.N.Biscuits 17:10, December 19, 2009 (UTC)
::Why does his MOS have to do anything with his knowledge of the U.S. Armed Forces? And in addition to being a U.S. Marine MP, he was also an MP with the Army AND the Air National Guards. So please be a bit more respectful...

I'm just sick of hearing about the exploits of Marines fiction or non-fiction... period.
Oh, and I left a really cool paragraph or two on the Halo Reach discussion.

Think about it as well. Marines are amphibious warfare nowadays, the Army is more land based, so why would the UNSC have a large Army when they are pretty much launching Space version amphibious warfare? - <span style="color:red">DarkbelowHGR</span> <span style="color:green">CommbandD</span> 21:49, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
:For what Bungie has stated the UNSCA was for: ground defense. It's not an offensive branch of the military as is the Navy and its corps of Marines. -- Lord Hyren 00:35, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

:If they made a video game about the American Navy at sea taking place in the 21st centry, the game would be about the Navy. Now if you made a game about the Humans Space ships taking place in space, the game would be about the navy because the navy controls and operates the ships. *Darb 013 16:30, August 3, 2010 (UTC)*

::The Colonel was referring to himself. He was saying that he doesn't have to report contraband Covenant materials as the Army doesn't have an equivalent to the Naval rule. SPECWAR isn't a branch of the Army, but another military division altogether. == No respect or knowledge of Army..... ==
It is painfully obvious that the writers and developers of the Halo universe have placed way too much emphasis of the Marine Corps given the fact that most sci-fi games and novels do the same thing. People have no idea how small the Marine Corps is as a fighting force and how the Army is ignored during many offensive engagements in present day. There is a reference of the Army in Halo Evolutions, but it is about them getting wiped out and some female marine talking shit about them (which is what we do to each other in real life).
As a Army paratrooper, I hope that Bungie will get the Army right and include us more in the Halo universe. To say that the Army is primarily a defensive land force is ridiculous because we can do that and offensive operations on a large scale. This crap about the Marines going in first is a big fat lie that has been carried around for decades. We ALL go in first! The Marines attack in one area and Army forces would attack in another, it is basically a joint operation during major conflicts. Why in the hell were the ODST unit based off of Marines has always made me chuckle because the airborne concept is a ARMY concept, not a Marine one. Yes, the Marines have paratroopers, but when you think of sky soldiers, you think of Army paratroopers.
The UNSC Army should be the primary fighting force in the Halo universe, not because we are better than Marines, but that we have the numbers and are a larger fighting force. Take a good look at the real Army and our capabilities and you will see why I think that Bungie should give the Army a better representation as a fighting force.Bugkill
:The role of the Army in the 26th century is a lot smaller than in the 21st. The Marine corps has become the dominant of the two infantry forces due to the necessity of Naval ships to transport them to the war zone (or just a factor). The Army ends up as a small planetary defence force, with a lot of (formerly Army) vehicles and equipment going to the Marines instead. Do you honestly see the Army going on an inter-stellar offensive? Just be glad that the Army at least survived into the 26th century (The CMA, who are a lot like UN peacekeepers, didn't last).-- Forerunner 16:09, August 3, 2010 (UTC)
::Not really. In fact, I'm surprised the role of the Army shrunk significantly in the 26th century. The general idea is that the Marines attack, the Army defends. The main subtle problem with the Halo Universe is that Bungie heavily used Aliens (the film) references in all of their design. That is when the whole "Space Marines" started becoming popular in all sci-fi titles/medium. So, if anything, blame pop-culture. ;) - <font face="Century Gothic"><font color="gold"><font color="#FF4F00">5</font>əb<font color="#FF4F00">'7</font>aŋk</font>(<font color="#FF4F00">7alk</font>)</font> 16:12, August 3, 2010 (UTC)
