Toran was a UNSC "dumb" Artificial Intelligence construct who assisted Dr. Catherine Halsey and Jacob Keyes during their Spartan-II candidate evaluation reconissence mission.[1]
Biography
Designed to solely hold knowledge on subjects he was built to know, Toran's abilities as a Dumb AI were limited in comparison to many of his Smart AI counterparts. In 2517, Toran was assigned to the Diplomatic Shuttle Han with Lieutenant Jacob Keyes and Dr. Catherine Halsey in their mission to evaluate possible candidates for the Spartan-II program. On August 17, 2517, Toran aided and catered to Dr. Halsey as they entered the Eridanus system to evaluate the first potential Spartan-II candidate on Eridanus II.[2]

He was likely named after Toran, a sacred element of Buddhist architecture.
