Role in Halo: ReachEdit

Is it possible that the Air Force will play a minor role in Halo: Reach? There are runways outside the facility in the map Sword Base that look like airbases, something Marine/Navy avaiation likely doesn't use. --Gunnery Sergeant Pete Stacker, UNSC Marine Corps 17:51, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

I should hope that it would be a lot more than minor. The UNSC Army gets a fairly big role, so hopefully other services will make an appearance. I'd quite like to see a few more Air Force aircraft; so far we've only seen the F-99 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle. If the plot degenerates to, "The Army and Air Force screw up and get surrounded and the awesomely badass Marines and SPARTANs break through and save the day," I'll just stop playing.--The All-knowing Sith'ari 19:10, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
Judging by the limited campaign footage in the Vidocs, the Army and Marines appear to be working alongside one another. So hopefully, that problem won't happen. I think their Air Force will be in the game, since Navy aviation is from Naval craft, Marine Aviation is VTOL, no need for runways, and the Army seesms to not even operate vehicles in the game. (The Tanks, Pelicans, and Falcons all have Marine logos on them).--Gunnery Sergeant Pete Stacker, UNSC Marine Corps 19:22, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
I wasn't aware that we knew of any separate emblems for the UNSC Army and Marine Corps. Are there images of them on the wiki? Hopefully though, the Army will operate vehicles: Marines are supposed to be based more around the infantry than armoured vehicles, and in any case, it would be mind-bogglingly idiotic for an Army not to operate armoured vehicles.--The All-knowing Sith'ari 20:42, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
What I meant was that those vehicles have "Marines" stated on them in black letters, not seperate emblems.--Gunnery Sergeant Pete Stacker, UNSC Marine Corps 20:57, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Boarding party in LNoS?Edit

I recently concluded that the Sabre crewmen that board the corvette in LNoS are Air Force personnel, based on the fact they wear the same outfit as a dead Air Mobility Express pilot in ToTS (teal in coloration, white chest armor, lacking knee or shoulder pads). Plus, being fighter craft, it seems plausible the Sabres would be operated by the Air Force instead of Marines or Army troops. There's also the possibility that they're Navy, but as I said, their suit would suggest Air Force.

However, there's one more thing that complicates this. The boarding party that arrives on the Pelican also wear the same outfit. Right now, the LNoS and Operation: UPPER CUT pages list them as Marines. The question is, should we assume the boarders are Marines, Army troopers or Air Force? Is it at all plausible that an Air Force would organize such a strike team from their own personnel? Or would they rely on Marines or Army troops instead?

If the boarding party isn't Air Force, it means that the suit they wear is universal between branches. This would also take some credibility out of the thesis that the Sabre pilots are Air Force. Still, Bungie gave each branch their unique look to make them distinguishable; if they wanted the boarding team to be Marines or Army, then why not use the Marine model from TPoA or the Army BDU with a sealed helmet? I was hoping we could sort this out so I could decide if changes should be made to any relevant pages or not. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 08:18, 16 June 2011 (EDT)

It is possible that they are a special forces branch under the Air Force's control, though I suppose it is also equally likely that they are just Marine or Army personnel with non-standard armour (Personally I'd say they were Marines - the army appears a lot more grounded in the 26th century). Do we have a good screenshot of the other BDUs to compare? If you feel that the differences are different enough I suppose you could create "Unidentified special forces unit (UPPER CUT)" and describe the differences there.-- Forerunner 09:07, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
Here's an AMX pilot from ToTS, and here's one of the soldiers from LNoS. It's one of the Sabre crewmen, but the team on the Pelican wear the same armor. For comparison, here's an image with most, if not all, Army trooper variants in the game. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 09:11, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
There's a corporal with a radio-back wearing a brown version of the suit. However, I doubt that Bungie would have confused the two - why put a radio man on a plane? It would appear that they are wearing Air Force uniform. It doubt, further, that Bungie would use the skin consistently in the wrong way whey intended it to have a specific use (eg. fly vehicles). It could be that the military uses Air Force pilots for all sub-orbital craft like NASA in its early years, due to the similarity of controls. However, the reason for the armed airmen and the uniform of the Pelican boarders makes me think that this could be a specialist branch of the Air Force trained for boarding action.-- Forerunner 09:38, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
I guess the pilots are either Navy or Air Force; the boarding party probably were Marines who were just carried aboard by the Sabres like how Jorge was taken to Anchor 9 by Noble Six. Odds are whoever the pilots for the other Sabres were, they didn't participate in the boarding action. They just dropped off whoever was riding with them then left.

Insignia?Edit

We recently got the insignias for both the Navy and the Army. None for the Air Force or Marine Corps though, any reason as to why?262VigilantGuardian (talk) 23:54, 6 January 2016 (EST)

Yep. The only reason we were lucky to get ones for the Army and Navy is due to that Halo 5 promotional video (can't remember which one) that shows the insignia for each branch/organization each member of Osiris originally came from (Army for Tanaka, Navy for Vale, ODST for Buck, and ONI for Locke). --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 23:58, 6 January 2016 (EST)
They're also emblems for H5G multiplayer.Sith Venator   (Dank Memes) 00:01, 7 January 2016 (EST)
Well, nuts. I mean that makes sense now, but at the same time why not introduce the others, I ask. Guess those will have to wait.262VigilantGuardian (talk) 00:05, 7 January 2016 (EST)
