"Gravemind doesn't transport himself through the grid" - well, yes, it seems he does. Part of him is where we first see him in the abyss below the Library, and part of him is in Flood-conquered High Charity in the closing cinematic. It seems that either:
- He teleported into High Charity to talk with Cortana (or possibly teleported a part of himself). This would imply that the grid extends to the space encircled by the Installation as well as its surface.
- The only other explanation is that the Flood that boarded High Charity in Pelicans built Gravemind an "avatar" (at least some tentacles and a minor nervous system) out of bodies and Flood matter. The Gravemind in the Library could control this avatar from afar (supposing that gravemind can indeed telepathically control/communicate with Flood from a distance - it's possible he can) and use it to talk with Cortana. This is possible, but would mean Gravemind has instantaneous ansible-style communication powers we don't know about. —This unsigned comment was made by Mr Toad (talk • contribs).
