Oops, messed up some of the code in the first set of example, but I hope you caught the gist of it!

Hey, thanks for updating articles with the SpOps reference template!

Just wanna let you know there is a way to streamline how the pages are linked in the template. The Refs templates should automatically link whatever it is in the parameters, so there's no need to add the [[ ]] brackets - i.e., {{Ref/SpOps|Departure|Core}} saves space, easier to type, and does the same thing as {{Ref/SpOps|[[Departure]]|<nowiki>[[Departure/Sacred|Sacred]]}}

For Artifact, Invasion, and Exodus, you can add an additional parameter EpisodeLinkText= so it does not display the parentheses suffix; for example, {{Ref/SpOps|Artifact (Spartan Ops)|EpisodeLinkText=Artifact|Hacksaw}}

See my edit here on Fireteam Crimson page: https://www.halopedia.org/index.php?title=Fireteam_Crimson&diff=1618167&oldid=1618161

Hope that clarifies everything!

We have Template:Ref/SpOps for Spartan Ops stuff. It's a little more fleshed out

No worries - the revert was alright and made sense. The initial removal was mostly just as it seemed like the page was turning more into an intrepid eye biography, and was losing its focus on the remote aspects specifically. It's looking pretty good now!

Hey buddy. I love the energy and really appreciate the edits, but you've edited the Mark VII page 14 times today. Feel free to use the preview function or minor edit button.

As a reminder, please use chapters when citing novels. If you are having difficulties using the reference system or understanding how/why we do things the way we do, we are more than happy to help - however, until such a time I can only assume that you are wilfully ignoring multiple repeated requests to do things properly.

Hi, I am once again asking for you to properly cite the novels in which you're drawing information from. Simply citing the novel is not enough. We're not asking for detailed page citations - just a simple chapter number - I don't believe this is an unreasonable request. After discussing this some with the other staff who are in agreement, if you are going to keep insisting on not citing things, you may be blocked from editing. You've been asked several times now.

Thanks.

Apologies, the post formatting messed up a bit there; the quoted text was meant to be in italics.

So I'm only skimming through the ebook right now, as I've yet to properly read it myself, but immediately I'm finding these quotes from a cursory scan;

Judging by her appearance, it seemed likely that this woman—Amalea Petrov —had indeed been marooned since the only recorded surface battle on N’ba, early in the war. That meant she had spent more than thirty years here, by her own UNSC calendar, and probably had no idea what had been happening in the rest of the Orion Arm. (Chapter 7)

What he found surprising, he realized, was that more than thirty human years after the original battle here on N’ba, there were still survivors on both sides—and they were still very much fighting as if the war raged on. (Chapter 9)

The 30-year conflict doesn't necessarily need a name; if it did I'd simply term it the "Netherop conflict" or something such. More likely, I'd just make it a sub-section on the planet's history article. As for the mission in outcasts, the Battle of Netherop (2559) would probably suffice.

You can cite multiple chapters for multiple points; citing a whole novel is near-useless for anyone who's coming to the page later on looking to find out where a certain piece of information was gathered.

Hi, when editing please remember to cite chapters properly. Simply citing a whole novel isn't adequate enough for use as a valid source. Thank you.

Well you got to it before I could respond (lol) but yeah, now's good to go.

Hey, as a reminder, the wiki now uses chapter citations for novels, rather than individual pages. When updating citations, it'd be awesome if you were able to try and also update that aspect too. Thanks!

Just to jump in here. Its best to get it done right first, than needing to fix it later.

It also means it doesnt get missed when sources do come as thats always a very easy thing to miss.

You can just flip it back a few pages and you’ll see the chapter number? It just helps keep the wiki well-sourced so no misinformation gets circulated.

Please don’t forget to add sources like so: {{Ref/Novel|TRP|Insert-chapter-number-here}}

No worries - for that kind of thing I intend to do it in a sandbox or a notepad doc then copy it all up as one large edit at the end. Means there's not gonna be loads of edit conflicts, and it's a bit easier to check over.

When doing large changes like lists of appearances, please don't make an edit for each addition - just add everything in one big list. Thanks.

Fair enough. Next time, please make use of the preview button either way, as what's happened here is really excessive.

I've temporarily locked the Post-War conflicts page until such a time as you see this message and reply. Having 54 edits on one page in a short amount of time really isn't a good way of doing things.

Hey, just as a reminder please try to remember to use the preview button while editing. Having 20+ edits made on a page within the space of an hour is annoying to try and check through. Thanks.

The came has a worldwide release approximately 2hrs from now. After that, anything is fair game.

I'd still try and chapter source. :) Helps source exact information! A good way to imagine it is every chapter being a mini-story. That just so happens to be in one collection

Only exception I'd say is books (Anthologies do this) without chapters at all.
