Set a Fire in Your Heart is a track from the music of Halo Infinite. It was used in the Halo Infinite Campaign Gameplay Premiere and was released on YouTube on July 28, 2020.[1]

Overview[edit]

The track opens with strings, quickly followed by percussion. At 0:13, double bass enter with Escharum's theme from the eponymous track. Percussion return, building up a tribal rhythm, with strings accompaniment.[2] The melody slows down briefly, but returns as high strings play the Halo Theme Gregorian chant, interjected with excerpts of Escharum's theme between its verses. The track ends with the piano playing the fanfare of Finish the Fight (from Halo 3: Original Soundtrack).

Production notes[edit]

  • Escharum's theme used double bass to emphasize on the character's weight and heft as a Banished War Chief. A double bass was chosen as the instrument in the early editions of the theme, and Coker stated it has effectively conveyed the menacing feel to others at 343 Industries.
  • According to Coker, the interplay between Escharum's theme and the Halo Theme in the second half of the track reflects and emphasizes the "duel" aspect between Escharum and John-117 in the Campaign Gameplay Premiere.[2]
  • A version of the track, released in a single with Reverie and Through the Trees on Spotify, runs for 2 minutes and 20 seconds with an additional eight seconds of silence in its ending.
