Retribution's Thunder was a Covenant destroyer under the command of Thel 'Vadamee in service during the Human-Covenant War.

HistoryEdit

Battle of Charybdis IXEdit

Main article: Battle of Charybdis IX

Retribution's Thunder was the first vessel under the command of Thel 'Vadamee, which he received directly from the Prophet of Regret. The destroyer was present at the Battle of Charybdis IX in 2535, where it engaged it UNSC destroyers over the human colony Charybdis IX.[1]

Most of the UNSC ships were destroyed nearly instantly by the Thunder's accompanying fleet. Retribution's Thunder attacked and disabled the destroyer UNSC Do You Feel Lucky? in an attempt to capture navigation data from the latter vessel. A Sangheili boarding team, lead by Thel 'Vadamee, entered the ship to retrieve the data, only to find that the humans had already destroyed it.[2] With all human ships destroyed, the Covenant proceeded to glass the planet as the Insurrectionists on the planet vainly attempted to resist.[3]

Battle of the RubbleEdit

Main article: Battle of the Rubble

Retribution's Thunder was then assigned by the Prophet of Regret to hunt down a group of allegedly heretical Kig-Yar who were trading with the human insurgents over the planet Hesiod.[4]

Later the Retribution's Thunder and the accompanying raider A Psalm Every Day arrived in the 23 Librae system to search for the Kig-Yar "rebels". Upon finding the source of the "heresy" at the Rubble, the crew of Retribution's Thunder were betrayed by the Jiralhanae and Kig-Yar aboard the Kig-Yar raider vessel. Retribution's Thunder was then self-destructed upon boarding by Kig-Yar forces to prevent its capture.

Many of the crew fled the ship after 'Vadamee rhetorically asked the crew if anyone wished to leave in order to weed out any dishonorable Sangheili and Unggoy. Most of Retribution's Thunder's crew perished while retreating or while fighting the boarders. However, 'Vadamee and his four-member Sangheili retinue - Jora 'Konaree, Saal, Zhar, and Veer - survived and were captured by Kig-Yar forces.[5]
