Motion scanner

The motion scanner is a small handheld motion detector in use by the Covenant. These devices were given to sentries who were posted on the edges of an encampment or strong point. They could then detect incoming units and vehicles and sound an alarm.[1]
On August 30, 2552, during the Fall of Reach, the Unggoy Zawaz was assigned to be a lookout with a motion scanner for the landing zone of a Covenant cruiser. He detected three incoming Banshees and assumed they were likely to be Sangheili in a secret mission and did not set off the alarm. Piloting the Banshees were actually three Spartan-IIs, who soon destroyed the cruiser and the entire landing zone with it.[1]
