Halo: Nightfall: Quartermaster

Quartermaster is a Second Story of Halo: Nightfall's Episode 4: Gods of the Damned. It features Lindsey Danford, a quartermaster for the Sedran Colonial Guard, discovering that the UNSC has tampered with the colony's supply of HAVOK nuclear warheads. The report is flagged and sent to Codename: FIXER.[1]

Cut to Lindsey Danford speaking to the camera for a report at the Sedran Colonial Guard forward operating base.

Danford is identified as a quartermaster for the Colonial Guard. "Nuclear explosives" is marked as a flag word by Office of Naval Intelligence software reviewing the video. Cut to Danford on a data pad reviewing military equipment.

  • Unidentified male (COM): "You think they're active transponders?"
  • Lindsey Danford: "We've made some modifications to the detonation encryption. Someone will have to show you how it works."

An MA5D assault rifle, an M395 DMR, and a HAVOK tactical nuclear weapon are identified within the room.

  • Unidentified male (COM): "What precisely?"

Cut back to Danford speaking to the camera.

  • Lindsey Danford: "The Condor is one thing, but a HAVOK nuke? It's something else entirely."

Cut back to Danford reviewing the military equipment.

  • Lindsey Danford: "Wait, say that again?"
  • Unidentified male (COM): "They only found—"

Cut back to Danford speaking to the camera.

  • Lindsey Danford: "We currently have four devices with no material to replace them. They're asking for 25% of our entire arsenal. I know they supply this stuff, but, officially, it is ours once it's been decommissioned."

The transmission undergoes interference due to cosmic ray activity.

  • Lindsey Danford: "Giving it back to the UNSC, even on loan... It's a legal minefield."

Cut back to Danford reviewing the military equipment.

  • Unidentified male (COM): "Straight to ONI headquarters."
  • Lindsey Danford: "So the bomb itself sends a report to ONI every time we service it?"
  • Unidentified male (COM): "That's correct."
  • Lindsey Danford: "Including the detonation encryption?"
  • Unidentified male (COM): "They pick up the signal."

Cut back to Danford speaking to the camera.

  • Lindsey Danford: "I've been told in no uncertain terms, that the big reason we even have these is because we're an Outer Colony on the front line."

Cut back to Danford reviewing the military equipment. An officer is speaking distinctively on the base's PA system.

  • Lindsey Danford: "Anything else you'd like to surprise me with?"
  • Unidentified male (COM): "We should have told you about—"

Cut back to Danford speaking to the camera. The ONI software monitoring the transmission initiate a vocal analysis and Danford is unknowingly subjected to a retinal scanner.

  • Lindsey Danford: "The nukes are part of their contingency planning! I'm saying they're using us. As a storage facility."

The vocal analysis declares Danford to be highly unstable. Cut back to Danford reviewing the military equipment.

  • Lindsey Danford: "You're saying one of our nuclear bombs is an informant?"
  • Unidentified male (COM): "Not just this one. All of our bombs."

Cut back to Danford speaking to the camera.

  • Lindsey Danford: "And that's even more clear if we do nothing now."

As the transmission is uploaded and sent to Codename: FIXER, Danford ends the transmission.
