Hey everyone!

This is the latest major update done to the wiki. The following are what we've done:

Forum 2.0

The forum recently received its latest update, dubbed the Forum 2.0. Essentially, the threads can be located into two categories, the General Discussion and the Support Requests. Both are quite self-explanatory; the first is for general discussion while the second is for technical requests and proposals. At first, it was proposed that we should create a third category titled "Community Proposals". This was scrapped due to the reintroduction of the Community Portal.

So, "Forum 2.0" features an automated categorisation process. When you visit the relevant category and create a topic from that category, it will automatically categorise the topic/thread you created accordingly. This results in a less cluttered, more organised list for archival purposes. On top of that, threads are also capable of being stickied to the main forum page, so important threads on wiki-wide implementations or proposals will not get buried by the more general threads.

A forum policy, created by the community and reviewed by the community, will be available at the end of this week (hopefully).

Introducing: Community Portal

Project:Community is being reintroduced into the wiki. Prior to this, it's simply a dead page listing old and dead community websites and goes unchecked until now. Now, it's something much more visually pleasing.

The main purpose of this portal page is a page for the community; this page includes a quick overview of the last active threads from the forums, the live chat via IRC, the HOTM, a quick list to useful editing/review tools and quick updates from the general Halo community. Essentially, this portal page is to encourage interactivity between Halopedia members. Want to start a wiki-project on cleaning up articles? Form a canon-cleanup usergroup to review outdated info in articles? Or perhaps an picture usergroup that focuses on cleaning images and uploading videos? Maybe you found a notable fansite that has not been noticed by the general Halo community?

You can do all that in the Community Portal (of course, policies and regulations apply; you're not getting off that easy). Lots more coming.

As of now, it's pretty much... "dead". It would be appreciated if the Halopedia community would start using this page and promote it.

Main Page: Revamped

The main page is also getting revamped. A working design can be viewed here (ignore the Haters.GIF).

A lot of the community features will be moved from the main page to the Community Portal, keeping the Main Page focused only on quick navigation to content, featured content for attraction/bored users looking for something to read, and official news on the Halo franchise. In my honest opinion, it looks far better and up-to-the-point.

Hooray, this is awesome!--Spartacus TalkContribs 15:33 20 March 2012 (EST)
I love it, but I miss the little widget on the side that showed the recently commented-on forums. It made discussion easier in my opinion. Ιι Ηη Ππ 15:05, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
It's currently located in Project:Community; I suggest bookmarking the page. :) — subtank 17:23, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
I really like the idea of using the tabbox extension on the Main Page.--Spartacus TalkContribs 21:49 21 March 2012 (EST)

Just to inform that the redesign of the main page is done. Of course, we do still take feedback to improve it. You can do it here.— subtank 17:43, 30 March 2012 (EDT)
