I have access to lots of dimensional data regarding Halo objects. I've easily been able to add extra info missing in weapon, vehicle and ship pages. What I'm not able to as easily do is add dimensions to pages that do not already have them templated. Just general objects in the game like a neural implant, medical PDA, biofoam canister, NAV beacon satellite, things of that nature. Is there an easy way to set these pages up for this info? While we don't have an infobox template for random objects (yet), so far we've just added the dimensions to the article text itself, maybe a trivia section. Truth is, until you came along, we've only had the dimensions for maybe a handful of random objects outside of ships, weapons and vehicles, so we don't really have an established standard for it. However, with the increasing number of measurements being provided by you, we could always reexamine this - making an infobox for objects in general is probably the best idea. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 13:44, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
There's a reason behind that and that very reason is to avoid the overuse of unnecessary template (alongside avoiding template creep and the concept of keeping it simple). Templates (and infoboxes) should only be created and added only when it is necessary. My suggestion is to add these info into the trivia section (or subsection under trivia section).— subtank 14:48, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
Can do. I can tell you how I've managed my own Halo Bible over the years though...anytime I came across new info, I added that category to all my other data, so if it's a shipboard location or the muzzle velocity of a weapon, all weapons get that category or all ships get that category. Lots aren't filled in until and if they become known, but it gives me some ideas for cataloging data. Because of that, we ended up with other info in the first Visual Guide. Some characters started out with height or weight and I helped to convince them to have that standardized for all characters. Then we had to go make up heights that weren't known and weights too. In ships, I convinced them to add the ships registry number since we knew many, but then we had some to make up too. My own fav 'Easter eggs' were the Savannah's number FFG-371 as well the Reach turret M-71. ('71) is my year of birth. :) It's be nice to see dimension categories for regular objects as well, but if you don't wish to add them, that's cool.ScaleMaster117 (talk) 16:11, 29 June 2013 (EDT)
Just to make sure that I am not being mean or anything, I'm not saying that users are prohibited from posting stuff into the wiki, no matter however trivial it is. Just make sure it's relevant to the article. Also, you are likely the only person to have categorised all those information, so it is up to you whether you want to post 'em up. :) — subtank 07:28, 2 July 2013 (EDT)
