In Halo: Reach the achievement is unlocked by completing the Campaign mission New Alexandria on Normal, Heroic or Legendary.^[1]

In Halo: The Master Chief Collection the achievement is unlocked by completing New Alexandria on any difficulty. The Xbox achievement artwork is a Halo: Reach concept art of New Alexandria.

Trivia[edit]

The achievement's name is a reference to a quote by Cortana in the final cinematic of Halo: Combat Evolved, after scanning for survivors of Installation 04's destruction; "Just... dust and echoes. We're all that's left".
"Dust and Echoes" is also a track from the Halo: Original Soundtrack, by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori.
