Halo Mythos implies that Far Sight Lost and Absolution were in fact part of the 2nd Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity, rather than this fleet as mentioned by the Halo Encyclopedia, itself not known for complete canon accuracy.)
Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose

Hundreds of ships

Xytan 'Jar Wattinree

The Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose[1] was a massive Covenant fleet, likely comprised of several smaller fleets or battle groups. It was led by Imperial Admiral Xytan 'Jar Wattinree and consisted of at least four smaller fleets of around at least two hundred ships. The fleet had the responsibility of patrolling the fringes of the Covenant's vast interstellar empire.

History

Prior to the outbreak of the Great Schism, the fleet was responsible for guarding the outer borders of the Covenant's interstellar empire in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Xytan 'Jar Wattinree, a legendary Sangheili Imperial Admiral whose influence was so great that the Hierarchs feared him as a threat to their own power, was exiled to lead the fleet. On November 3, 2552, following the outbreak of the Great Schism, Wattinree rallied his fleet at the colony world of Joyous Exultation in the Salia system and summoned all available Sangheili-controlled vessels to join him. With over two hundred vessels gathered, thirty Sangheili shipmasters were gathered within the oration chamber of Wattinree's vessel, the supercarrier Sublime Transcendence. Here, Wattinree prepared to plan a massive counter-offensive against the Covenant that betrayed them, summoning the Jiralhanae leadership to the world under the pretence of a truce; in reality a plan to massacre them and establish a new, Sangheili-led Covenant. Voro Nar 'Mantakree, the de facto leader of the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity, appealed to the Imperial Admiral to destroy the Flood threat on Installation 05, of which Wattinree intended to do after wiping out the Jiralhanae leadership. After relaying intercepted human transmissions indicating that human "demons" were heading to the world of Onyx to acquire a trove of Forerunner technologies, Wattinree promoted 'Mantakree to fleetmaster of the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity, and ordered him to take the fleet to Onyx and seize the artifacts for the alliance. Moments after Mantakree's fleet entered slipspace, a captured NOVA bomb stored on board the Sublime Transcendence was inadvertently activated by a group of Huragok. The resulting explosion obliterated over three-fifths of the Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose, as well as shattering Joyous Exultation's moon and devastating the surface of the planet. Only the ships on the far side of the planet survived.[1] Imperial Admiral Wattinree was atomised by the blast.[2]

Thirty-two of the surviving vessels of the Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose later made a slipspace jump to Onyx. The armada arrived just as UNSC Battle Group Omicron was closing in on the two remaining vessels of the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity. The group formed a phalanx between the human battle group and the remaining ships of the Second Fleet and opened fire. The human vessels were obliterated in the exchange, with their futile counterattack failing to inflict a single loss.[3] Following the closure of the slipspace portal leading into the planet's shield world and the detonation of a pair of FENRIS nuclear warhead's by Kurt-051 to prevent Covenant ground forces led by 'Mantakree from following the humans through the portal, the entire planet of Onyx disintegrated into its trillions of component Sentinels. The drones proceeded to completely destroy the recently-victorious Covenant fleet, wiping out the last vestiges of the Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose and the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity.[4]

It is unknown what happened to any vessels that did not go to Onyx. It is possible that many returned to Sanghelios or joined with other separatist forces. The Jiralhanae, knowing that Joyous Exultation would serve as an anchor point for the Sangheili, intended to lay siege to the planet. By the time they arrived, however, both the planet and the fleet had been destroyed.[5]
