The fleet spiral was a Forerunner fleet formation.[1] Typically, the fleet command vessel—such as a Builder ship—would lie at the center of the spiral.[2] Designed to allow segments of the fleet to respond to attacks from any direction, such formations were favored by the Didact, and were later used by his creation, Mendicant Bias. One prominent instance of the combat use of a fleet spiral was Mendicant's attack on the greater Ark.[3]
