Battle Rifle[edit]

So, I carried the same MA5, John's same MA5 from the end of Halo 3 (It being a "D" is just because it's this game), through the entire Halo 4 campaign, I get out of the crashed Broadsword... and now it's a BR85. :/ He even has the MA5 in the cutscene where he exits the fighter, but as soon as gameplay starts, it's a BR. It's also a BR85 in the cutscene near the very end, on the lightbridge, which is the only time it does that in the game. At some point here someone screwed up. Why do you assume John would carry the same weapon throughout his adventures? That's an act of sentimentality, something I don't think John would feel towards machinery, and in fact was probably trained NOT to. Spartans are trained to use any and all weapons that best suit the task at hand, human or Covenant, so I fully expect John to discard a weapon if he has one that better suits the mission ahead, ie; the Battle Rifle. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 06:35, 12 November 2012 (EST)
Not all of them of course, but I see your point. It's in-universe vs storytelling. A real Spartan would act as you describe, but heros in stories often have a trademark weapon/gadget/etc that they always have. I'm not saying he's always had the same MA5, but it's just as much part of his character as his suit(s). At any rate, the main point I was trying to make was that he has an AR in the cutscene climbing out of the Broadsword but then a BR in gameplay. It's an error because at every other point in the game, while you could have any weapons you like, the cutscenes have the potential to be correct, whereas in this case that's impossible as you can't carry weapons from the last mission. The later cutscene where he has the BR is consistent with the weapon you (should) have, but it's odd compared to the rest of the game's cutscenes from a writer/designer's perspective. Ending[edit]

I know it was for gameplay purposes, but you would think that the Didact would have thought to simply turn off the hardlight bridge while Chief was walking on it.

Dr. Catherine Halsey[edit]

I've noticed that when Chief is sent to the armory and when Cortana starts to speak, his HUD says the transmission is from Dr. Catherine Halsey but then it switches to Cortana. Should this be added?100.2.226.191 10:39, 9 July 2013 (EDT) Anonymous

Really? :O That should definitely be added! Alex T Snow (talk) 14:20, 9 July 2013 (EDT)

Length[edit]

On miscellaneous it says that the trench run is bigger than the ship... the ship is around 75km. The trench has curves as well so its not necessarily bigger than the ship... Erickyboo (talk) 03:29, 25 July 2013 (EDT)

Trivia[edit]

In the Trivia section it states that slipspace is "depicted as a bright haze of luminous, predominantly blue-tinted streaks reflecting various colors across the visible spectrum". While playing through the level again, it appeared to me that that was the effect of the Mantle's Approach's shields, not artistic license taken with portraying slipspace. should I change this? --Weeping Angel (talk) 14:00, 18 March 2014 (EDT)

I wouldn't change it yet, if it's just based on a hunch. I was looking through various objects in the game in a 3D program and I'm pretty sure it was a giant half-cylinder model of those streak graphics was placed above and around the play area and I think the name of the model was something slipspace related, and not shield related. I'd have to back and specifically look for it now, but that was my impression on first seeing that object. Slipspace is supposed to be absolutely black, but canon isn't always interesting I guess. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 14:31, 18 March 2014 (EDT)
Update: I checked on the model and there are two models, one is flatter than the other and the other more a partial cylinder but they both have streaky star kind of graphics on them and they are called in the file structure, "slip_trench_a" and "slip_trench_b". So I assume it's not intended to be shield related. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 20:49, 18 March 2014 (EDT)

Darn. I was hoping to find something that finally made 343i look good... --Weeping Angel (talk) 23:38, 18 March 2014 (EDT)
