Friend or Foe?[edit]

Isn't this creature an enemy? In the picture where it was revealed it shown as a red blip on the motion tracker. Red blips are only for enemies, even soccer balls in Forge show up as yellow blips on your motion tracker. Que Sera, Sera 04:01, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

It's confirmed hostile, and it doesn't look too happy, but I don't expect the motion tracker to identify an animal, which acts on its own, to be an enemy, but maybe for gameplay.EM

Well isnt it that everyone in the UNSC is registered so that every living thing thats not registered will be considered a threat.Sniperteam82308 02:07, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

I'd hardly call a giant soccer ball a threat. LOL Que Sera, Sera 02:11, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

My point is that the motion tracker doesn't read life, only motion. It's kind of unknown how it works, but small things like rats actually show up as yellow blips. Read the page on it. Que Sera, Sera 02:43, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

I'd guess that you'd require an IFF transponder to register as a green in series canon, though other instances are just for gameplay reasons (ie. Identifying separatists). -- Forerunner 03:07, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

"Let's catch one and ride it!"[edit]

I heard this beast can be rode? I'm not sure, random rumors. Either way, cool creature. A Deathclaw and a Taun-Taun had a kid. XD --Halofighter92 20:49, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral Enemies[edit]

Just some idle speculation but what if the Gueta is actually an experiment by bungie to be a neutral foe, one that doesn't have a specific side. In which case, it maybe possible to see the Covenant fighting one as well or maybe even being able to lure the two into battle and watch them fight each other Draco122 10:00, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

I believe the flood were a neutral foe long before Reach came out--Theraptor92 12:07, 1 May 2011 (EDT)

Gúta[edit]

The B.net page calls it a Gúta, with no letter "e" and an accented "u". I'm not sure if that has been brought up before or anything, but which form of the name is correct? ---dky 23:15, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

Can you provide a link? -- // ŝтŕγκęŕ [ COM | LOG/M | LOG/S ]
Never mind, didn't see the link you provided. You're right, it should be Gúta. I moved the page. // ŝтŕγκęŕ [ COM | LOG/M | LOG/S ] 23:26, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

Titan[edit]

Ensemble did a lot of work on their proposed MMO, including concept art for ambient wildlife. Look familiar to anyone else? It's got Forerunner-esque tattoos, but its recognisably a Guta. Worth including? -- Specops306 Autocrat Qur'a 'Morhek 16:23, 19 October 2010 (EDT)

I think so, it does seem like a relevant statement. TJbrena 14:50, 7 March 2011 (EST)

Size[edit]

It seems overly large for an apex predator, with no prey large enough or in the area other than Moa, which wouldn't necessitate such power. However, it may be an herbivore and the size and weaponry are purely for defense, likely against pack predators, as predators larger than the Guta would lose out in an evolutionary race against pack predators. Similar to the Hell Pig family, with super-large tusks/teeth and bodies (the family being known as Entelodont) losing out to wolves' intelligence and pack tactics in an evolutionary arms race. Such theoretical predators would be dispatched easily by pack tactics or the Guta, unless said creature was at least a quarter of the size of a Scarab. --TJbrena 15:04, 7 March 2011 (EST)

Perhaps there are (or were) larger pray around that we just don't see in-game.-- Forerunner 16:18, 7 March 2011 (EST)

Yeah, that's what i figured. I wish enemies and wildlife were spawnable in forge. A big game hunting mode would kick ass. --Delta1138 SnooPING AS usual I see 12:07, 14 April 2011 (EDT)

past tense[edit]

Since the only confirmed area of reach that this species lives on is glassed...shouldn't this article be in the past tense or atleast relflect the likely extinction of the Guta?--The Reborn Qual 'Fulsamee 16:35, 9 April 2011 (EDT)

Does anyone know what a Guta would look like if proper lighting was applied to it. With mods or something. --Felix-119 18:35, 19 April 2011 (EDT)

Plasma Grenade Verification[edit]

Unsure how to 'verify' this on the page, but I can confirm that even on Legendary, a Plasma Grenade does drop a gúta in one. WillowTea (talk)
