Talk:Dr. Halsey's personal journal

Content secion[edit]

Out of curiosity, do we know if either the Limited or Legendary Edition notes/packing information are canon? If I'm not mistaken, aren't they incompatible? --Am I a Lion, or a Lamb? Or a Boy? Saint or Sinner? The Lost Books 11:43, 23 March 2011 (EDT)

Ich versteh euch nicht :/ How did you include that parts are non-canon?-- Forerunner 12:56, 23 March 2011 (EDT)
If anything they make Halo: Reach more compatible with existing canon, not less. In addition our canon policy is to assume that something from approved sources is canon until it has been proven otherwise. The fact that 343 Industries personnel as well as Eric Nylund were involved in the bonus material proves that this is very clearly meant as canon.--Emblem 1.jpg Rusty UserWiki:Rusty-112|- 112 ]] 18:05, 23 March 2011 (EDT)
What I meant by this is the "packing information," as in the notes of the supposed sender. Are the notes from the package's sender to his cousin (pic 1 in the gallery) and the note from Colonel Eton (pic 3) both correct, or are they non-canon? That was my question. --Am I a Lion, or a Lamb? Or a Boy? Saint or Sinner? The Lost Books 16:53, 24 March 2011 (EDT)
Colonel Eton sent the container to a Beta-5 operative in 2553. After the operative's death in the 27th century, another man claimed it for himself and sent it to his cousin, urging him to either send it to the Museum of Humanity or go public, himself.-- Forerunner 17:11, 24 March 2011 (EDT)

How did they get access to it?[edit]

How did SPARTAN-019 get access to and read her journal? I thought that it was both physical and highly protected against intruders. Vegerot goes RAWR! Vegerot (talk) 01:54, 30 October 2011 (EDT)

Perspective[edit]

This article is written from the real world point of view. The "List of appearances" implies it is from an in-universe point of view. I think we need to rewrite. —S331 Bubbleshieldhud.svg(COMMission LogProfile) 13:21, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

Agreed. Or we could keep some of the real world content and put it in a section such as a "Behind the Scenes" or something like that.--Spartacus (Talk | Contribs) 14:18, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

Book Dimensions[edit]

I find myself wondering, what are the books dimensions? Are we talking big, medium-sized, or small? What am I to expect if I were to get it, just out of curiosity? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 14:24, 24 December 2013 (EST)Xamikaze330

I'd say it's more toward the small side if you ask me.--Spartacus TalkContribs 16:46, 24 December 2013 (EST)
Halsey's Journal is 7.25" tall, 5.25" wide, and just over an inch thick. It has a fold-over magnetic clasp and the pages are bound with string. There's 200 pages of material plus a pocket on the back cover that has lots of other peripherals like pictures, a map, etc. In my opinion, it's one of the coolest additions to the Halo canon surpassing most novels in terms of pure content. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 17:12, 24 December 2013 (EST)
I know. It's so loaded with data, I want so much to get my hands on it! I asked for it either for Christmas or my birthday, but I don't know which "when" I will get it. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 20:01, 24 December 2013 (EST)Xamikaze330
Well, looks like I got it for Christmas. Anyway, when I opened it and checked out all the cool contents and stuff, I noted one thing was missing that said came with it on Amazon: The SPARTAN-II insignia patch. I'm wondering, is that supposed to be found inside the book's pouch, or in the artifact bag with the journal? I can't seem to find it. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 14:16, 25 December 2013 (EST)Xamikaze330
Not sure where the patch originated as mine's all jumbled and in the Halo 4 limited edition box at the moment but the patch is 4 inches high and about 3.25 inches wide so you can't miss it. Glad to hear you got the journal though! -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 16:57, 25 December 2013 (EST)
Just checked customer reviews on Amazon. Seems three customers reported it missing. I'm a little disappointed. :-( But I printed a photocopy of the item just to "soften the blow of disappointment". But content is what it's really all about! :-) --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 17:16, 25 December 2013 (EST)Xamikaze330
